A Welcome Note
Welcome to the NUS Faculty of Engineering (FoE)’s Junior Talent Development Programme website!
The FoE Junior Talent Development Programme (JTDP) aims to introduce junior college students to the world of research and nurture their interest and talent in engineering through a systematic mentoring process.
Students with a spirit of inquiry are encouraged to expand their knowledge beyond their classrooms in their areas of interest. In this programme, mentees would be taken under the wings of our professors who would share their areas of expertise.
Each year, interested students could choose from a list of projects offered by the mentors. However, if a student is interested in the research area offered by a mentor but would like to propose his own project, he is also welcome to submit his proposal. Depending on the mentor, each project may be for individual student or a group of students (with max. of 3 members).
The duration of the projects are for half a year and they will start in June and end in December of the year.
Beginning this year, the JTDP, which was originally initiated by the Faculty of Engineering, will be integrated with the long-standing Science Research Programme, or SRP, that the NUS Science and Engineering Faculties have been running, and so JTDP will become part of it. The JTDP will therefore take on a new identity and engineering-related projects will be known as "SRP-Engineering" or "SRP-E" projects. This will enable continued opportunities for students to take part in engineering-centric projects and for them to gain an insight into and whet their interest in engineering.
We would like to thank all the schools and their teachers for supporting the programme throughout these years and hope that our joint efforts in future programmes will continue.
